What to know about the tour: Formed in 1996 in Ajax, Ont., Sum 41 is a quintet fronted by lead singer Deryck Whibley.

The band exploded on to the fertile pop punk scene with its debut EP Half Hour of Power in 2000 and debut album All Killer No Filler in 2001. That album’s first single Fat Lip reached No. 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and the album was certified platinum in Canada, the U.K. and the U.S.

The group continued to build an international following with subsequent releases that never hit the high points of its debut but kept the band in the public eye. On March 29, 2024, the band dropped its eighth album Heaven :x: Hell. The previous year, it had announced that this would be the group’s final record and they would be disbanding following the Tour of the Setting Sun world tour.

Jan. 20 – Winnipeg, Canada Life Centre

Jan. 23 – St. Catherine’s, Meridian Centre

Jan. 24 – Ottawa, Canadian Tire Centre

Jan. 25 – Laval, Place Bell

The final two shows will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Jan. 28 and 29.

One final performance is planned in Vancouver on March 20, when Sum 41 is to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the 54th Juno Awards ceremony at Rogers Arena. Tickets: Ticketmaster.ca.

Who else is on the tour: Vancouver pop punk quartet Gob, a mainstay on the Canadian indie scene since 1994, and Toronto quartet Pup will open the concert. Pup just dropped its latest single, titled Paranoid, this week.
