When Chappell Roan stepped out at the Grammy Awards, the American singer-songwriter sported a piece of Vancouver.
Or, more accurately, two pieces.
The Hot To Go! singer wore bold boots from Vancouver footwear brand Fluevog Shoes at the awards show on Sunday.
The Canadian footwear selection by the Best New Artist winner for one of her night’s looks didn’t come as a complete surprise to the Vancouver-based team. Roan has sported the local brand’s designs on previous occasions.

“Her team reached out to us a few months ago about a few appearances and often these grow into relationships,” explains John Fluevog. “For the Grammys, of course, there are multiple outfits and many shoes and boots are considered. We’re thrilled that these Fluevogs were worn by such an amazing artist on the red carpet.”
Roan selected a custom pair of the Sugarcandy Boots, a design first released in 2022, for the eye-catching red-carpet ensemble.
“This particular custom colour-way came together in record time,” Fluevog says of the lace-up, to-the-knee style. “Arabella and the design team here at Fluevog worked closely with Chappell’s team to pick the colours and textures to match the dress, and get that single pair made and shipped in two days for the big night.”
The pair worn by Roan stays “pretty close” to the original design of the boot, Fluevog says.
While the footwear creative notes several celebrities have worn Fluevog shoes over the years, including Canadian singer Shawn Mendes and Best Album winner Beyoncé, Fluevog says that the alignment of the company’s quirky style with the uniqueness of Roan felt like a perfect fit.
“It’s always nice to be liked, and connected, and talked about, but it’s infinitely better when that association is with someone or something that really aligns with who we are,” says Fluevog. “And Chappell Roan is an artist we love and feel a real connection to.”
Noting that the brand’s celebrity sightings have always come about organically — “I’ve never chased celebrity endorsement throughout my career,” Fluevog says — he adds they’re always working with “new and old friends” on future projects.
“When you partner with great people, it keeps things fun,” Fluevog says.
